Honey Shine Charity Event

I had an unbelievably awesome time last night at Tracy Mourning's charity event for her nonprofit organization, Honey Shine. The exclusive star studded and by invitation only event, was held at the Louis Vuitton store at the Bal Harbour Shops. Catered with gourmet Hors d'oeuvres and signature cocktails, the elegant affair was certainly exquisite to say the least!

Although I'm not going to name drop, there were definitely some high rolling guests that supported Honey Shine by purchasing some fashionable Louis Vuitton items from the store. A hefty portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charity to support the ongoing efforts of its mission.

Honey Shine Mentoring Program, a program of Alonzo Mourning charities, was founded by Tracy Mourning back in 2002. Her mission is to encourage and teach young girls values in order to empower them to be well rounded young women in their futures. This program that has definitely grown throughout the years is one that is near and dear to Tracy's heart.

I had the opportunity of meeting the Mournings and I must say that they are a very dynamic duo. Gracious and down to earth, what a charming pair! I also had the opportunity to mingle and network with other well-known famous faces throughout the night as if we were old friends. It was certainly a comfortable atmosphere as I moved about store. I was able to make some great connections and I'm certainly thrilled that I was able to attend.

If you'd like to contribute to the Honey Shine Mentoring Program simply just go to www.honeyshine.org. There you can join the mentoring program, volunteer, or even just make a donation. I encourage all that are interested in the future of our young women to definitely get involved because it truly is a wonderful and unique program!

6th Annual Women's International Film & Arts Festival

Just attended the kickoff day of the star-studded 6th Annual Women's International Film & Arts Festival (WIFF)! I must say they are off to a great start! Day one definitely exceeded my expectations. Held at the historic Broward Center for the Performing Arts, it was definitely a night to remember!

The evening started out with an elegant VIP and press reception with services of cocktails, fine wine, and Hors d'oeuvres. Everybody who's anybody attended and I was certainly very excited to be there. Although I'm not going to name drop, it was definitely a luxurious occasion to say the least.

Emmy Award winning Filmmaker
Adriana Bosch
After the reception there was a red carpet line-up of special guests and along with the evenings opening remarks. I personally enjoyed mingling, networking, and taking photos with a few of the attendees of the festival last night. Later we enjoyed the featured film that we all have been waiting for! The first installment of a 3-part film "Latin Music USA: Divas and Superstars," a film by Emmy Award winning filmmaker, Adriana Bosch. I loved it and can't wait to see the last two installments! The film really broke down the history of Latin American singers in the U.S. and how they have influenced a whole new style of music that we come to enjoy today. Definitely a must see!

This was my first year attending WIFF that was founded by Yvonne McCormack-Lyons back in 2006. It was Yvonne's purpose and mission to really empower women's artistic views and give women a voice! From what I hear WIFF has come a long way, growing with the number of attendees every year! I'm so happy that I was able to attend the opening night and it's not too late for you to attend the rest of the days! Be sure to just log onto www.womensfilmfest.com to check schedules and ticket prices; which by the way are extremely reasonable. If you can't make it this year definitely check it out next year. You'll be glad you did!

Married Men & Single Women Movie Premier

Last night I attended the Red Carpet movie premier of Married Men & Single Women by filmmaker Steven Drayton, at the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami! For the premier, I had the honor of styling two of the actresses, Chantal Nicole & Teshia Thurman, who were featured in the film. I also had the pleasure of styling Stacey Simpson, sister of both filmmaker Steven Drayton and well known legendary rap artist Flavor Flav.

Full of local media and vendors, the event was buzzing all over with excitement! The film, about the complicated and twisted relationships of already married men with single women, was full of realistic drama that would have many people thinking twice before they act! I give it two thumbs up! It'll for sure have you on the edge of your seat! The movie was absolutely awesome and a definite must see!

The full featured film was followed by the crème de la crème, "Battle of the Boutiques”; a fashion show that showcased a few local and extremely talented fashion designers. Being a fashion stylist, it was definitely a treat for my eyes!

I along w/ Jeweler Giancarlo Martell
being interviewed on ensemble
put together for Stacey Simpson
( grey dress).
Afterwards, the cast had their photo op and Q&A session which allowed media to ask all of the important questions that dug down deep into the mindsets of the characters in which they played. One question I really wanted to know was how close to home were the characters they played compared to their own lives!? A touchy subject perhaps, but they all assured that although they could certainly relate in some ways, their own personal lives didn't mimic that of their characters.

At the end of the night, the cast and crew enjoyed a grand reception full of congratulations and thanks for a job well done! Certainly well-deserved after delivering an outstanding collaborated piece! With a big cake, smiles, and memories to last a life time it was definitely an awesome experience. One that I am so honored that I was able to be a part of! The movie is soon to be released on DVD, so be sure to look out for it and make it a priority to go and rent it!

Festivals of Speed 2010

I'm always down to try something new and interesting at least once, as long as it seems like something that I would consider fun! So, months ago I search the internet for local events that would be coming up in Miami and stumbled upon the Festivals of Speed! The Festivals of Speed is a series of luxury lifestyle weekends that showcases the world's finest automobiles, motorcycles, watercrafts, and aircrafts. They also display luxury lifestyle products such as jewelry, fine art, etc.

The Festivals of Speed is held only at exclusive venues in various select cities throughout the year and this weekend was Miami's visit. Although only a two day festival, both days are packed with fun things to do. You can look online at www.festivalsofspeed.com to check out their upcoming schedules and ticket prices. The tickets can be quite costly and are only sold online in advance. However, if you can get a group of friends together the price per person is much cheap with their group sales. So that's just what I did!

A few of my girlfriends and I got together and decided on attending their yacht hop reception that took place yesterday at the Epic Hotel located in Downtown Miami. There was so much to see in only three hours, but we managed to make the best out of our time. The reception was fully catered with yummy delights and had stationary open bars throughout that offered "Sex in the City" type of cocktails.

We were allowed on the various different yachts, a few luxury automobiles, and motorcycles. All while mingling with people, eating and drinking as much as we saw fit, and taking lots of photos! Bottom line, we had a blast! I definitely look forward to them visiting my city again!

Fall Fashion 2010

It's that time of year again and it's time to update that wardrobe for this season's fashion trends. I always recommend to my clients that they check out fashion magazines to help them keep up with the latest fashion trends since they are forever changing. Fall is usually well known for it's rich and vibrant colors, the purples, the oranges, the greens, etc. Guess what?! Great news, Black is Back! It's back in full effect and no, I don't mean the Gothic look. I'm talking about the classic, simple, and chic look. Check out "In The Black" editorial spread in Modern Luxury's Sept/Oct 2010 Miami magazine. It's to die for! The best thing about black is that you absolutely can not go wrong because it's slimming, almost everything looks perfect on, and it's easy to dress it up or dress it down depending on the occasion. I've provided a photo from my "Cookies and Cream" photo shoot below. I dressed model Kara Wint in clothing compliments of The Dressing Room in South Miami. She is wearing a black romper with cream booties, a really hot fall fashion look this season. You can add the belts and accessories that work for you to dress it up how you'd like.

So this year you can still have your rich and vibrant colors but you can also have your simple and easy to dress black. Below I've provided a photo from my "The High Life" editorial spread with model Izabel Sheji. Clothing also compliments of The Dressing Room Boutique in South Miami. She is wearing a vibrant silky purple blouse with black leggings. Her makeup and accessories compliment the blouse and really just adds that extra little something. In this spread, I focused on rich and vibrant fall colors that really pop and catches the eye. To see more photos of my wardrobe styling work visit my Facebook page at www.facebook.com and type in Fabulous Genny B in the search or check out my website at www.fabgennyb.com. Until next time, Ciao Bellas!
